Our Practice

Our practice has developed over the years to allow us the privilege to forge close working relationships with a select group of attorneys collaborating in areas which bring our unique skills to bear in dealing with matters for our clients. Our experience through years of practicing law includes litigation, real estate transactions, probate and family matters. We also serve as plan counsel to the New York Hotel Motel Trades Council legal plan for over twenty-five years.

Anthony DeLorenzo, Principal

After graduating from Fordham University in 1978 and New York Law School in 1981, Mr. DeLorenzo was admitted to the New York, New Jersey and related Federal Court bars in 1982. For almost forty years Mr. DeLorenzo has practiced law in Manhattan, having opened his first office in 1985. During this time Mr. DeLorenzo has handled thousands of matters for a variety of clients. His practice has concentrated on litigation and commercial transactions.

Maria C. Marinello, Of Counsel

Ms. Marinello graduated from St. John’s University and attended Brooklyn Law School, graduating in 1979. She is a member of the New York, New Jersey and Florida Bars. Ms. Marinello has been involved in private practice for forty years, specializing in the areas of matrimonial, family law, real estate and litigation. Ms. Marinello brings her decades of experience to bear for her clients in an effort to seek the most advantageous result in all instances.

Mario Biaggi, Jr., Of Counsel

Mr. Biaggi graduated from Columbia College and attended Columbia Law School, graduating in 1983. He was admitted to the bar of the State of New York in 1984. Mr. Biaggi is an accomplished civil trial attorney having tried cases in the Supreme Court of Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester counties as well as in the Eastern and Southern Districts of Federal Court. In addition, he has argued numerous appeals including the Federal Court of Appeals, and the New York State Court of Appeals.

Litigation

Our practice specializes in commercial, personal injury, and general litigation matters. Some of our results include:

Obtaining a 1.6 million dollar verdict in a wrongful death action from a landlord in favor of his deceased tenant
Obtaining a 2.2 million dollar settlement for the widow of a deceased partner in a commercial suit against the surviving partner
Settlement after litigation, involving disputed lottery winnings in excess of 1.5 million dollars

Commercial Real Estate

The practice handles numerous commercial real estate transactions including:

The sale of a Manhattan property for approximately 8 million dollars, including 1031 tax free exchange aspects
The sale of a commercial property in Williamsburg for over 35 million dollars, also involving 1031 exchange
The purchase of a mixed-use Manhattan building involving complex estate acquisition
The financing of a multi-million dollar development in Whitestone Queens
Reorganization of a complex real estate portfolio, involving strategies aimed at tax issues as well as tax free exchange

Commercial Lease Drafting

We regularly advise clients with respect to commercial leases both from the perspective of the landlord and the commercial tenant involving drafting and negotiating.

We have drafted numerous commercial office leases and leases for restaurant, bar and entertainment venues
Ground leases

Residential Real Estate

We handle numerous real estate transactions. These have included hundreds of residential real estate purchases and sales, ranging from affordable subsidized housing, to luxury Manhattan homes, condominiums, and oceanfront homes in the Hamptons.

Probate & Estate | Will Drafting & Estate Planning

We regularly handle numerous estates involving both probate of wills and non-will administration proceedings; these matters range from small estates to multi-million dollar estates. Our goal is the orderly and timely handling of the estate, from appointment of the executor or administration and assembling the estate assets to final distribution to the beneficiaries. We handle both large and small estates. In many instances we seek to avoid probate or, if probate is necessary, to make the process as simple and inexpensive as possible.

Over the course of our years in practice, these matters have included:

Contesting probate of an 20 million dollar estate in Bronx County, resolved successfully retaining 90% of estate for intended will recipients
Administration of a multi-million dollar estate involving successive federal and state estate tax consequences
Mr. DeLorenzo is regularly appointed by the New York Courts as a court evaluator, referee and guardian ad litem

Commercial & Corporate Law

We regularly act as outside general counsel to businesses and deal with all matters including contract review, drafting of general legal documents, employee relations and collection of receivables. We have handled many asset purchase and corporation business purchase sale involving due diligence investigation, negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement and closing.

Family & Divorce

Over the last twenty-five years we have served as plan counsel to the New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of New York City, Inc. legal plan. We have had the privilege of representing members in hundreds of matters many of which involve family and divorce matters.
